Cloud Disaster Recovery
Host Virtual's Cloud Disaster Recovery
Host Virtual's IaaS Cloud Platform gives you the ability to setup a simple, straightforward Disaster Recovery process for your Cloud Server that works in three simple stages. This solution is perfect for small businesses and individual cloud servers that require protection from disasters & site-wide failures without complicated technical requirements.1. Replication Once you have a server deployed with us, you can simply select another geographic cloud location for DR. (For example, if your current server is in San Jose, CA you can select New York, NY as a US based East Coast backup location.) For supported images, we then setup automatic data replication from your primary site to your backup DR site.
2. Failover You can opt to manually fail over or have Host Virtual automatically failover to your backup site in the event of a natural disaster, or wide ranging issue impacting your primary location.
3. Restore Failing back is a manual (but automated) process that re-synchronizes the backup data with your primary location, and then begins the replication process again.
Fail-over is accomplished either by hosting your domains DNS with our geo independent name servers, or by pointing the hostname you wish to DR enable to a special DNS record.
What is Disaster Recovery?
Disaster recovery is the process, policies and procedures related to preparing for recovery or continuation of technology infrastructure critical to an organization after a natural or human-induced disaster. Disaster recovery is a subset of business continuity. While business continuity involves planning for keeping all aspects of a business functioning in the midst of disruptive events, disaster recovery focuses on the IT or technology systems that support business functions.
